Walt's second day. Chapter 3

Walt woke up to Daisy barking and scratching at the door. He rolled over and looked at the clock, it was 12:20 in the afternoon. "shit, I haven't slept this long in forever." Walt thought, He got up and took Daisy out. After breakfast, the phone rang. Walt slowly got up, his left knee was bothering him today. The surgeons in the Amy had done a good job, but it still hurt every once in a while. Walt's mind went back......
Trees are everywhere, screaming, and gunshots fill everything. Sargent Komanski and his platoon are marching through the trees looking for a village. There had been a lot of Viet-Kong attacks involving children and teddy-bears filled with explosives. It had been traced back to this village, and Sargent Komanski had been tasked with making sure, as his C.O put it, "this shit ends now!" Walt's mind flashed forward.....
The village was gone, he had called in an air strike on it. After the planes had finished, Walt and his men and gone into mop the place up. They killed everyone. Those who had not been killed in the bombing were unceremoniously shot by Walt's platoon. After it was all over, the platoon was leaving, when Walt saw a figure dart from one of the houses. It was young boy clutching a teddy bear. Walt pulled his sidearm and shot the boy five times. Then he told his men to burn it all.
Walt's eyes snapped open. Daisy was in front of him wagging her tail and licking his hands which were clenched in front of him. He pulled one hand out and wiped angry tears from his eyes, and went over to the gun cabinet and took out his M-1 and began to clean it.
An hour later, Walt got up and got dressed, this time choosing the Browning high power over the. 45 and walked across the street to the coffee shop, since he was out of Maxwell House.
